From: "Wendall Maloy" <wendallmaloy@yahoo.com> (updated) To: "Bill Maloy" <maloy@goldinc.com> Subject: Maloy Reunion Report Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2000 11:59:51 -0500 Thanks, in part, to you, we had a Maloy Family Reunion in New Braunfels, Texas that was attended by members of William Marion Maloy's first family (all descendants of Charles Luther Maloy) from Florida, Arizona and New York. The Reunion was hosted by members of William Marion's second family here in Texas...all descendants of Joel Maloy. We know where the second family (five children) and descendants are located. It's descendants of the first family (10 children) that we are still working on finding. These children of William Marion Maloy and Mary Tiffin were: Edward Vincent Maloy (b.1857), Hugh Marion Maloy (b.10/5/1858), Mae Annie Maloy (b. 1980), William Egbert Maloy (b. 1862), James Marion Maloy (b. 1864), Richard Fallas Maloy (b. 1867), Ellis Maloy (b. 1873), Lou Delpha Maloy (b. 1875), Luther Henry Maloy (b. ?), Phumphrey Angelow Maloy (b. 5/16/1870). Anyone with information on this family can contact me at wlm@txcr.net Thank you, Wendall Maloy |

My God don't we Maloy's reproduce well. My name is John Arthur Maloy well that's what it says on my birth certificate. Everyone calls me Sean as I am the third successive John Arthur Maloy so the mail was getting mixed up I come from Kilmarnock in Ayrshire Scotland which is Just 30mins south of Glasgow. I have traced the name Maloy and have only 40 to 50 names 10 which connect to my tree. Looks like everybody left for the better life in the USA. Its great to feel we make our mark, this makes up for all the spelling errors. Just Remember we are all ELL OF A DIFFERENCE. Take care all Maloys on this lovely Robert Burns Night. Cheers From Scotland. Kind Regards Sean.
Glad to find this site. Thank you for creating it. I am Sylvene Hatfield -descendant of Agnes Maloy Geisler. Her father was Edward Charles Maloy and his father was John Maloy. We are wondering if there are any previous to John in your contacts. E. C. Maloy was born in Canada we think. My siblings and cousins who are descendants are located in central Iowa. We are interested in finding a cousin of my great-grandfather E.C. (Ned) Maloy who may have resided in IL. He was known only to us as Fr. Maloy. He had a sister who married and lived in Lohrville, IA in the late 1900's. We have constructed a family tree of our branch for any who might be interested. Can you please post this on your site. My e-mail address is: hatfield@wccta.net
I have just found your website. I am the grand daughter to William E. Maloy and Emma Arthur through their son, William A. Maloy b. June 4, 1892 in Desdemona, TX; d. August 8, 1959. I have been searching for my dad for the last 25 years. I found his death record in Bakersfield, CA and he is also buried there. My parents are William Arthur Maloy and Carolyn McEnerny. They were not married. I didn't even know that the guy I had been calling "dad" wasn't my dad until I was 17. It took until I was 25 to get it out of my mother who my dad was. She finally told me. I would very much like to connect with my Maloy line. Perhaps once and for all I can rid myself of the void that comes when you don't know where the second half of yourself is...if that makes any sense. There is so much info on your page, I just don't know where to start. I am so anxious to connect to a real person. Regards, Anne Marie
MediaWiki v1.5.7 has been installed on the server, and a "Maloy Wiki" is available now at http://wwww.maloy.org/wiki.Over the next few weeks, the information that's been collected here will be copied over to the Wiki. The significance? Well, maloy.org users are now able to create and edit their own entries, rather than waiting for Bill to get around to posting updates.
Attached is the Maloy crest which has been furnished to me by a friend from Ireland.Note: The Coat of Arms on the maloy.org home page

Hi! I was just playing around on the internet and found this site! I have been dating a Tim Maloy for about six years. He was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1973 and has a twin brother, Brian. I believe the family is originally from the New Jersey area. Their father is named Dennis Maloy and now resides in both Yellow Springs, Ohio and Savannah, Ga. I think this page is so interesting as my own family cannot be easily traced. If you would like to contact me for more information or known Maloy e-mail addresses, please write back. I hope to someday be a part of this great family as well and am interested in the herritage. Thank you. Stephanie Bulthaus. timsteph@famvid.com

I was delighted to find this web site. I am trying to find information on my g grandfather John Maloy (I have been told it was Malloy in Ireland) The information I have is sketchy, born approximately 1806 in Ireland. The article I have says "Bengal, County Tyrone, Ireland". I have found no such place at Bengal. He emigrated to Quebec as a young man, then to New York, Tennessee arriving in Sylamore, Arkansas in 1844 where he built the first store in that area. He died in 1891. His wife was Ann Finley, they had eight children, a son Isaac was my grandfather. My grandfather was born in Mountain View, Arkansas. Is there anyone out there belonging to his family? I am very interested. Thank you so very much Carolyn
On Sunday March 30, 2003, the Sun Herald, South Mississippi's major newspaper, announced their All South-Mississippi High-School Soccer Teams. Among those honored is one Billy Maloy, a defensive player from Long Beach.
Unfortunately, the newspaper botched the spelling of his last name :^(
Billy Malloy [sic], Long Beach
Class: Junior
Position: Defender
Coach Eddie Holmes says: "He was our rock on defense all year. It was
his first year to play varsity. He was very, very consistent. He never got
a card, stayed injury-free and we would put him on the other team's big
scorer."
I am Carolynn Eilts, I have looked for over 10 years for my gggreat grandmother Sarah Eliza Maloy's parents. I have two lines of Maloys on our tree, they are as follows: My main concern, I have been seeking Sarah Eliza Maloy b. 1820 d. 1871. She was my gggreat grandmother. She married John Andrews b. 1820ca d. 1880. They were married in Greene County, Missouri on August 29, 1843. In a census of 1860 it listed Mother-in-law living with John and Sarah and as born in Ohio and "insane." John and Sarah Andrews are both buried in Campground cemetery. The censuses of 1860 and 1870 lists Sarah Andrews' age correct according to her birth date and lists Sarah Andrews in both census as born in Ohio. I have searched for over 10 years for the parents of both John Andrews and Sarah Eliza Maloy. This is my brick wall. Can someone help me? I am so elated to find a site about Maloys. This is yet another limb on our tree, I would like to link them with the other Maloys. Maloy: John 1796 Pa Mary ?/ 1795 Pa Children of John and Mary: James R. Maloy 1849 Martha Ann Maloy 1833 Mary Maloy 1836 Malinda Maloy 1845 Harriet Gooding Maloy June 13, 1839 Married: Romain Milton Hawley Feb. 25, 1858 s/o John Milton Hawley 1802 - 1867 Brother to: Delavan Bement Hawley 1831 - 1918 (My gggreat grandfaher) I also have a Hugh Patton Maloy on our tree, I have no named Spouse for. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful site. Please email me with any info. greatly appreciated and will share. Carolynn Eilts Geofinder@aol.com
Hi, I just want to thank you for this site. After putting my information on I was contacted by a second cousin who said the story of John Maloy and Mary Odell was part of his family. Since then I have met by email three other second cousins all working on this same family. I would like to up date my entry in hopes other may find us. John Maloy is now William John Maloy, he has a sister Hannah. We believe he could of been born in 1808. We found a Jacob born 1803 a Nancy b 1812 who married a Howard Williams and a Margaret who married a William Williams. There could also be a Daniel. We believe these are all siblings, we know Jacob's father is James. If any one can help us tie these all together it would be great. They lived in Cocke and Sevier Co. TN. Thanks Nancy Maloy... and then ...
I'm looking for the decendents of Hugh Maloy/Meloy possibly born in Franklin Co. PA about 1780. Moved to Greene Co, TN and married Mary Cook on Sep 26, 1806. They are also on the 1830 Greene Co, TN census. Would like to know if he is related to my gggrandfather William John Maloy of Greene and Cocke Co, TN. Records show that James Maloy/Meloy was at the wedding of Hugh and Mary. Are James and Hugh brother, father and son, cousins?? Please contact me if you have any information on the Hugh Maloy/Mary Cook line. Thanks, Nancy Maloy
Hi, My email had changed and so has the genealogy. Isn't that the way, as soon as you think your on the right track another piece of info shows up and gives you a right turn. I mentioned before my gggrandfather William John Maloy and believe he had a sister Hannah. Now we believe she was his sister-in-law. Now I'm looking for decendents of Daniel G. Maloy b. 1811 in Cocke Co. TN and who married a Hannah McMurtery/McMurtrey. They moved to Carroll Co, MO around 1850 They had 3 sons and 2 daughters?? One son is Daniel G. Maloy Jr. who lived in Eureka, Greenwood Co KS in 1910. and possibly a son George Maloy who lived in Hannibal, Marion Co. 1910. If anyone can give me further info on this line I would really appreciate it. You can contact me at sassy@ifox.com. Thanks Nancy Maloy
I am Theo Edwin Maloy, an assistant professor of public administration at West Texas A&M University. I am seeking links to the Maloy family that will probably go through Arkansas in the early 1800s. (I have the information on my mother's side, but my father forbid my mother to gather information on his family -- a slight problem about a family member on the non-Maloy side of the family that neglected to get married, and produced a child that my father could remember.) My father was Theo Maloy (no middle name, because his twin was Leo), born September 5, 1912 in Bearden, Oklahoma. His father was John Noel Maloy, born 1882 in Fayetteville, Arkansas or McKinney, Texas. His father was David F. Maloy, born in 1855, probably, and married to Mary Elizabeth Pool on Aug. 12, 1880. His father was Tom Maloy, who was married to Lucretia and to Rebecca Williams. Mary Pool's father and mother were John Knox Pool and Elizabeth Thompson. That is all that my mother wrote down before she died. My father had another brother, H.D., initial for Howard, I believe, although he claimed to have no given names. But that probably is no clue to family connection, because I don't think that Theo or Leo were traditional family names, either.
I research the name Maloy/Malloy also and wonder if you had Maloys in the "United States and Canada" as well as Ireland. My Malloys were in Michigan in 1880, in Oswego & Oneida Co, NY 1850's up and Kingston, Ontario, Canada after coming from, as yet, unknown place in Ireland. It looks like they came to Oswego Co about 1838/39 from Canada. The name was Maloy and then went to Malloy. Sure would like to hear from you. Bunny at: wrpete@micron.net

Hello, there! My name is Liam Maloy and apart from my immediate family had never met or heard of any other Maloys until visiting your web site. It seems that there are many more Maloys in the States than over here in England. I was born in 1970, have a brother, Tim Maloy (born 1972) and our father is Alan Maloy (born 1947). Our grandfather was Robert Maloy (born 1913). I have never tried to trace the family name back any further and it is something I would be interested in doing at some stage. I am keen to hear of any British or European Maloys and also to find out the origins of the name and geographically where the first Maloys came from. Keep up the good work on the site and hope to be in touch again Love Liam Maloy

Just another maloy, thats right, one "L". I'm 15 years old, Fred Maloy was my father, born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee. He died of Leukemia in 1985. His father, Dr. Joseph Maloy, lived in the New York area before he moved to Tennessee. His wife, Marianna Maloy, died around 1989-90, I was very young and I don't remember, and Jospeph died of Hepatitis B around 1994,(I'm just writing this off the top of my head, I don't remember the exact dates). The only Maloys that I am related to (that I'm aware of) live here in Kingsport. Ken Maloy and Dottie Maloy, my aunt and uncle, and their children, Harrison, Connor, and Miles. If anyone has any information on Maloys from New York or Massachusetts, please Email me.

I am James H. Maloy Jr. From Altha Florida. Myself and other cousins are
working on writing a genealogy of the Malloy's , Maloy's, Meloy's of
south west Georgia and north west Florida. I would like to be added to
the long list of Maloy page. You can include my home address as well as
my email if you like. I am interested in corresponding with any Malloy,

preference some because it looked more distinguished.
Do you tie your genealgy back with the Larry Maloy of Salt Lake?

also a first cousin to the Edie Taylor who has written.

I am researching my family history and need some info on a James Patrick and/or Ruby Inez Maloy (they were married), both born in the mid teens (1914-1917?). I think they had 4 children, but I am not positive. This is all the info I have to date as I am just starting my geneological research. This is a great page! Thanks a bunch!

I just found the E-mail address for my cousin Curtis Stevenson and have seen where my other cousins Kim and Patrick have preceded me in finding this site. We need to look for other descendants of William Marion Maloy and Jane Jackson. It's believed that William Marion left Texas and started another family in Oklahoma.
Hi, I am Edie Alison Taylor. I am not a direct Maloy, but my mother is. The farthest we can trace our family tree back to is Napoleon Bonapart Maloy. One of his sons was George Washington Maloy. George's sons were Clarence Jefferson Willis, Irvin, James Ray, George Wesley Maloy. In addition he had seven sisters. Some of them were Fannie, Macy, Eunis, Pearl, Lois, Susie, and Inez. Clarence Jefferson was my grandfater and he married Ada Bell Cloud. Their children are Ernestine (by a different wife), William, Hubert, Ada Virginia, and Robert Maloy. My mother was Ada Virginia. If anyone has any information regarding my line or knows someone who might know, please email me at LittleMeanness@hotmail.com
Hi,
I am looking for a William Walter Maloy born on 2/12/65 . Is this
you ? Thanks for your time ! - LISA
Hey,
My name is Mike Maloy. I'm 27 and am a social studies teacher in
Rochester, New York and have recently started checking out my family tree.
I'm doing this off the top of my head, and much info. will be incomplete.
Will write back later with more detail.
Here's what I have so far.
Mike Maloy, (me) b. 1971, Utica New York
Thomas J. Maloy Jr. (brother), b. 1967, Utica New York
Thomas J. Maloy Sr. (father), b. 1942, New York
Bernard Maloy (grandfather), b. 1917?, New York
Gerald Maloy (great-grandfather) b.? New York
William Maloy (g.g. grandfather) b?. New York
Thomas William Maloy (g.g.g. grandfather). b. County Roscommon,
Ireland
I have tons of cousins, aunts, uncles. Too many to mention in a brief
e-mail. I didn't see any names I recognized on your page, but have just
started learning about my heritage myself.
On your list you have a new entry from a Mike Maloy. Do you have an
e-mail address for him. From the information that he has posted, our
grandfathers were brothers.
Guess what, we're Maloys too! Unfortunately this line of Maloys is extremely tenuous. I know nothing before my Grandfather William Maloy, who lived in London and fought in the 8th Army at El Alemain. Following downstream however, my father (William Arthur - known as Bill) had one son, (Peter John - me!), and my son Benjamin David is the last male descendent. I'd like to flesh out the family tree a little - I'd better start talking to my immediate relatives before its too late! We have a family web page "The Maloys of Great Dunmow, England" at www.pjmss.nildram.co.uk Thank you for organising the Maloy page! Peter.
Just discovered the Maloy organisation and what a find! I was aware that members of my forebears' family emigrated to the US during c1840-1860 and am now wondering if there is any connection with my family. Some members of the family spell their name with double l, whilst others spell it as Molloy or Moloy. I am descended from Thomas Maloy who emigrated to Sydney, Australia in 1840 aboard the 'Elphinstone' with his sister Mary. They were born in Newbridge, Kildare. Tom was 20 when he arrived. Within a few years he married and settled in the Yass, New South Wales area raising a large family - I am his great great grand daughter, being descended from his son James Joseph born Yass in 1856. In the same year Tom paid the fare of his father John, step mother Catherine, three step brothers and a sister to Australia. They arrived on the 'Bee'. Is there anyone amongst the vast network of Maloys who are connected to the Newbridge area of Kildare. I would very much like to hear from them. Regards, Cheryl Mongan nee MaloyHey Cheryl -- I stumbled across the reference to James Joseph Maloy at rootsweb.com, and noticed how the author credits you as their inspiration/source/direction. I suppose, in return, someone should find the ancestry of Charles and Bridget Maloy/Malloy/Molloy/Moloy/Mulloy for you (us).
This actually feels kinda weird... I was running a search for a domain for my wife's extended family when I plugged in www.maloy.org to see what happened and got this page. I probably shouldn't have done it while at work, since it just cost me an hour pouring thru all the mail and related links, but I was held captive seeing who everyone is. I had sort of a vague feeling that the extended family was a bit larger than what I knew about -- I had no idea how common that feeling was. Now I understand why it was so hard to get a maloy-variation email address back when I was on AOL. I'll have to come back and spend more time here. ITMT, my name is Paul Maloy, son of Elwood Angus Maloy, son of Lawrence Lorenzo Maloy of Safford, Arizona. This family tree lives primarily in Arizona and Utah. I live in Salt Lake City, UT where my wife and I are raising a whole new generation (5 of 'em) of single L Maloy's. For the last couple years I've been employed as a webmaster for Novell, managing the Novell Education websites (education.novell.com). I was VERY amused at the listing for Paul Maloy as a co-author of a review on "Wordy-Sturdy" near the bottom of the list.html page. I wrote that BRIEF review when I was the Reviews Editor for WordPerfect Magazines a few years ago (BTW the link is dead and should be removed). Sheesh! Of all the 250+ reviews I wrote, I'm not sure how you found or why you linked to that one! Glad to know you're here -- I'll be back. P.S. Anyone know the history of the U.S.S. Maloy, a destroyer-tender that took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy (6 June 1944)?

I transcribed the history of USS MALOY (DE-791) from the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships. Due to my email provider going bankrupt, my email address has changed. Please make the necessary corrections on your web site so people wishing to contact me regarding ship histories can still do so. Thank you, Michael Hansen old address: mhansen2@home.com new address: mhansen2@cox.net
I served on the USS Maloy (DE-791) in the mid-1960's. I have created a web page devoted to the ship (and hoping to locate some shipmates), Check it out at http://personal.vallnet.com/mead/uss_maloy.htm Bob Mead
I happened upon your site and just wanted to let you know, if you are interested, that I have a new book coming out with the Naval Institute Press called "The Buckley-Class Destroyer Escorts." (You can check it out on Amazon.com) It contains a photograph of the Maloy, a statement of its namesake, and the service history of the ship (Maloy happened to have the longest continuous active service of any DE in the US Navy.) Anyway, the Maloy will now be publicly known!
Looking for any crew member who was aboard during this time period, who can recall when the,"Fighter" rammed her bow into the concrete dock on the Thames river. Who was the C.O. and what month and year did it happen? Also looking for any other crew members who were aboard during this time frame.Looking forward to hearing from you. I'm from So. Ala./N.Fla. originally. I know my family line back thru my gg-grandfather, Nathan Maloy, but prior to him noone in the family seems to know anything. Nathan Maloy came from somewhere in N.C. and settled in So. Ala. Estimate the 1830-40's. Can furnish downline from Nathan if that is necessary, but mainly interested in any connection upline. Would appreciate your advice on the format to use for the homepage, or any other pertinent update info that I should know. My knowledge of the Maloy name and origins is next to nil. I would certainly like to change that. I too, like some on the page, thought that there were very few Maloys out there. Looks like there are plenty enough to go around though. Let me know what I can do to contribute to this website and the family name.See also Emerald Coast Karaoke and again ...
Wow! Looks like there are a bunch of one L'ers showin' up out there these days. I am a Maloy too. Right now I am attending BYU and I have access to quite a bit of Maloy family history. I know that does not sound right to have a Irishman at a Mormon school but I am very interested in meeting my family. I have so many things and people to find. If anyone is familiar with the name Angus Maloy I would appreciate talking to them. I have several lines that coralate with Angus Maloy. Angus is where I can first find the name change from Molloy to Maloy. Angus' father was named John Molloy. I have record that John Molloy was born in Jura Island, Argyll, Scotland in 1726. He married a woman named Marion about 1750 in Argyleshire Co., Scotland. He had six children that I have record of. Angus Maloy, Charles Molloy, Angus Molloy, Catherine Molloy, John Maloy, Elizabeth Molloy. If anyone has any information concerning these lines please contact me. Thank You.
As I see you are referring to a 'Knut J. Maloy' in Norway as member of the Maloy 'clan', I think you should know the following. There are at least three non-related families in western Norway using the name "Måløy". Due to some deficiencies of the anglo-saxon alphabet this is normally spelled "Maloy" (but even Maaloey,Maaloe etc) in international contexts. As there are at least two million persons of Norwegian descent in the US and Canada I would be surprised if there are not some of them using the name Maloy. So beware, people having this name may quite well be of Norwegian descent, rather than Irish/Scottish. I also would like to stress that there (unfortunately) is only a coincidental similarity between this name and the Irish/Scottish "Maloy". "Måløy" is the name of several small islands (I know about four of them so far, there may be more) off the Norwegian coast. During the 18'th and 19'th centuries people living on these islands simply started using the name of their island as their family name, and thus it has spread along with their descendants. Kindly regards, Jon Måløy, Stockholm, Sweden

Hi, how amazing to find a whole clan of 1-L Maloys. And I thought I was alone in the world. Greetings.
If anyone out there is interested, or has any family info they would
like to share, my ancestry goes back to So Alabama/Northern Florida,
North Carolina and to Scotland. Family tradition insists we are in
fact Irish even though Scotland is where the known line ends.

Fellow standard bearers,
And here we thought they had knocked the "L" out of us getting off the
boat. Our branch of this noble clan is thought to have come to the U.S. as a
result of the potato famine in 1848. Settled in a small town in the coal
mining region of PA., a little town called Freeland, not far fron Scranton.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Matthew wonders if others have had this conversation:
Dork: "Okay, so that's M-A-L-L-O-Y?"
Maloy: "No, one 'L'."
Dork: "What?"
Maloy: "It's M-A-L-O-Y"
Dork: "Oh..."
Maloy: "We broke off from the 2 'L' clan 150 years ago. Very bloody.
Very messy. We're very passionate about it."
Dork" "Okay...so how is that again? M-A-L-L-O-Y?"
Maloy: "It's M... [smack] A... [smack] L... [smack]
O... [smack] Y... [smack]
There are a lot of Maloys in South Texas. I am cousin to both Pat Maloy and Curtis Stevenson already mentioned. Don't let the first name fool you. I am a male. Its just another cross I have to bear.
I am also a Maloy. My name is John Ross Maloy. My family now lives in Oklahoma, but came from Kansas where they moved just before the Civil War. It is my understanding that they were from Georgia. As the story goes they decided that slavery was wrong so they released their slaves, dropped an "l" and moved north. Has anyone else heard such a story in t family? What does our family crest mean. My Mom's family the Ross' of the Highlands of Scotland also has a lion, but, of course, no shamrock. Do we have a motto?
My family is from south Georgia where there were 11 kids in my grandfathers family. His name was Clower Edward Maloy, Sr. My father was Jr. He has a brother named Patrick Edward Maloy. I know of many Maloy relatives in FL and AL. I, too, have been the unfortunate receiver of the dreaded double L. Also Maldy, Mallory, Mayloy any everything else but Maloy. My poor unfortunate wife, whose first name is Alison, gets the double L in both her names. For our honeymoon, we went to Ireland and met some Irish Molloys. It was very neat. Needless to say all the Molloys I met owned either Pubs or Liqour stores (there is a chain called Molloy's Liqour Stores). I am creating my own Maloy homepage with family history I found in Ireland and a copy of our family crest. As far as I know, my branch of Malloys (back then we had the dreaded double L) came over before the famine. There were 3 brothers who split up when they arrived. Their name had been changed while they had lived in (hate to say it) England (boo, hiss). One brother settled in south Georgia, the others I have no idea about. If you have any information about this, please email me at Morningxer@aol.com. I hope that one day we can all get together at a central location and have a large family reunion. As the Irish say, "It would be Grand!"
I know its a long-shot, but I've tried to contact Mark Edward at his address listed ; mail is always returned. I may possibly have a link to his Maloy in southern GA, mine is James/Frank or James Frank Maloy, b. around 1859 in GA; he moved to FL, married etc. If you have another address, I would be most appreciative. P.S. I'm not a Maloy but my husband's grandmother was--she vacillated between one and two L's
Hi, my name is Brian Maloy (yes anotherone with one L). I have that same problem with people mispronouncing my last name. The latest one was "Maldy" I must have told her 10 times "it's M A L O Y", she kept insisting on calling me Maldy. Anyway im 23, Live in Los Angeles. I just got out of the Army where I spent three years in Texas. Im also recently divorced. Right now im a CNA at a hospital down here. Soon I'll be a heart monitor tech. Later I plan on going back to school to be a Surgical Technologist.
Wow! Never knew this existed. I'm Cory Maloy from your email list. My new email address is acory@earthlink.net if you could make the change. I'm actually Albert Cory Maloy originally from Phoenix. I now live in Salt Lake City. My father is Albert Louis Maloy of Phoenix. My Grandfather is Albert George Maloy. I'd love to see how this all ties together. Can I use the Maloy seal that you have here on your website on our website(under construction)? Thanks, I'll be watching this site for a while. CoryMy copy of the family crest was modified from Mark & Allison Maloy's copy. I'm not aware of its copyright status.
I'm Thomas Otto Maloy (my German Grandfather on my mother's side was named Otto) I was directed to the Maloy web site by Thomas Mark Maloy from Oxbow, NY, and will be forever in his debt. Thanks Tom. I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana but have lived in the Atlanta, GA area for 27 years. I own an Investor Relations business here named Maloy Financial Marketing, Inc., and even my answering service can't pronounce or spell it correctly. My Father (John Maurice Maloy and father (Thomas ? Maloy were from Dixon, Ohio, but beyond that I have little information. My Son is also a Tom: Thomas David Maloy. He's 24 and has his degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University. For years I thought I was one of just a few Maloys, but now I will be watching the Maloy web site with great interest to see if I can find a long lost relative. Thomas O. Maloy
I tried to send the response below to the post by LJARG@aol.com. Do you have an updated address for this person? If not can you post my response. Thanks Hello: I have also been working on the Maloy family tree that starts with John L. Maloy in Fletcher, OH. I am Lee Maloy the second son of Raymond and Bessie Maloy. I have gotten most of my information from a family tree prepared in 1943. I think the document was prepared by Ruth Maloy daughter of Pleutarch. The document contains significant additional information about the Swain and the Earhart families. I have also been to Fletcher, OH and seen the marriage record of John L. Maloy to Anna Boils (the family tree says Amy) on Dec. 25, 1817. In addition to Finley they apparently had two other sons, one named William R. Maloy and one daughter Sarah N who was born before 1820. I have an indication that William married a woman named Amy and that Sarah married George Brickinbough in 1835. I also found a Mary Boils marrying Thomas Snider 6/8/1818, most likely Anna's sister. I do have a couple of differences from your data. I have David Rollin Maloy instead of David Nollin and Orilla May Maloy instead of Ovilla. I also have an indication that Iva Noth was adopted. I don't have any information about John L. Maloy before his marriage. The family tree indicates that the Maloys came from Northern Ireland. If you have any additional information I would like to hear or if you want more info let me know. Lee

Ouch. There are so many Malloy's out there that misspelling Maloy may be excusable, but Microbiologuy? (I'm a Professor of MicroBIOLOGY at the University of Illinois.) My family comes from California for many generations, arriving sometime before the gold rush. Long enough ago that we can't trace any relatives in Europe, so although the oral tradition in my family has been that we came from Ireland, based upon Jon Maloy's comments I guess it is also possible that we were displaced Norwegians. Stanley Maloy Professor of Microbiology University of Illinois
Ouch. Typographical error corrected.
A Scranton-based Maloy clan sounds like a good lead for me. My own line disappears from the Census records with Harry Maloy, my great-grandfather. My grandfather, John Maloy, died when my father was still in grade school, so the direct family line is cut off with my dad (Bill Maloy, interestingly). -- Jim Maloy Greensburg, PA

Hello, Maloys! I was pleased to see myself listed on your web page. Need to correct a couple of things, though. I am no longer at Pitt but happily freelancing in Vermont. You can find out more at: http://www.katalan.com My father was Jesse Clay Maloy, born in Illinois in 1915, son of James Frederick Maloy, in turn the son of Henry Clay Maloy. OR, maybe Meloy. Rumor has it that either my grandfather or great grandfather changed the spelling from "e" to "a" (but there was always only one "l"!). Younger brother is Stephen Robert Maloy (b. 1947) of Summerfield, NC, father of Stephen Alexander Maloy (b. 1987). Older brother is Dennis Michael Maloy of Newnan, GA, (b. 1942), father of Heather Maloy (ballerina, already listed here; b. 1975). My father was an only child, so the Maloys of this branch are few and will get fewer, unless that one Maloy nephew repopulates the family line. He's only 13, so nobody's in a hurry for that to happen. That makes it all the more comforting to know there are so many Maloys in the world! Cheers! Kate
My name is Stephen Alexander Maloy and Heather Maloy (the ballerina Maloy) is my first cousin). Kate Maloy (Director of Communications group at Pitt) no longer works there. She moved to Vermont and she is a writer. She is my aunt. I am 13 years old and I'm a drummer in a bagpipe band called The Grandfather Mountain Highlanders. We perform and compete at events in North Carolina and surrounding states. Based on what I've learned from hanging around with all the Scottish people in our area, I believe I'm descended from the Maloys who were affiliated with Clan Stuart of Bute. The Stuarts were Scottish royalty and the Maloys became affiliated with them and fought with them in exchange for generally living help like food during hard times. This is what I know about my family. My dad, Steve has a brother and a sister, Mike and Kate. Mike is Heather (the ballerina's) dad. Kate has a son, Adam who is 15. Mike lives in Newnan, Georgia and hand paints signs. He also customizes cars. Kate lives in Woster, Vermont. We live in Summerfield, NC. My dad is an art framer and he's really good at it, too. My grandfather was Jesse Clay Maloy and he was born in the midwest. My great grandfather was Thomas S Maloy and he grew up in the midwest, too. I don't see his name listed in any of the information here. He was born in 1890 but that's all I know about him except I think he was an only child and Jesse Clay Maloy was his only child. Does anyone know anything about the Maloys from the midwest (like if they moved there from somewhere else)? My grandfather moved a lot (my dad was born in Pittsburgh and grew up mostly in Boston) and my dad, Aunt Kate, and Uncle Mike moved a lot before they got to where they are now so it's hard to trace back further. OOPS! My great grandfather's name was actually James Frederick Maloy. He lived in Palestine or Paletine, IL when he died about 1960 at age 69. My grandfather Jesse Clay Maloy was born in Indianapolis, IN or at least he graduated from high school there. Stephen Maloy

That would be me. My branch of the Maloy name actually comes from
Germany, just had the name mangled when we arrived in the US a few
generations back. It was originally Melew (I'll have to ask my dad
for the original spelling as I don't have any of that myself)
As far as family geneology, I've only got for sure back to my
grandfather (Roy Victor Maloy of Waterloo, Iowa), but I can see if I
can dig up more.

The Nixons--whose name ``means absolutely nothing,"" says Maloy--have been together 3 & 1/2 years, though Maloy and Davis had previously served together in other bands. ``We have entirely different influences,"" Maloy says. ``I grew up listening to my granddad, who played at the Grand Ole Opry in an obscure country & western band, Buddy White & the Westerners. On the other end of things, John, the drummer, joined the Kiss Army.""
I'm not a Maloy but my mother was.
I am interested in genealogy however and am constantly on the lookout
for possible connections to the Maloy line. I noted that Aubrey J.
(killed on the B24) was a native of Alabama as was Thomas Vincent. My
Maloy line was in Franklin and Marion co Ala. from at least 1840 to 1870
or so. Can you go back farther than your grandfather? Any Williams or
Vinson Pomphreys in the line?
If you're not into this (which I doubt given your homepage cluttered
with Maloys) could you tell me if you know anyone in the group that
might know?
Thanks,
Curtis Stevenson
